What Are The Usual Phases A Herpes Ulcer And How Long Does It Last? Is This Normal?
I have three good sized herpes sores on my chin, they showed up 4 days ago and grew in size over the first day or two. On Friday my doctor started me on Valtrex. I thought they were drying up (crusting over and cracking) and then a couple of hours ago they started draining more. Its so uncomfortable and embarrassing. How long is this going to last and is there anything I can do??

Herpes sores last about one to two weeks from the time they first form to when they heal enough for the scabs to fall off. Until the scabs form properly they are very contageous. Be very careful not to wipe your face too much or else the sores will spread, and no kissing or oral sex until they’re completely gone.
Keep the area dry, and every so often dab the sores with tincture of camphor or rubbing alcohol in order to help the scabbing process.
