If Someone Who Has A Cold Sore Kisses You, Will You Automatically Get Herpes No Matter What?
If you get them, when will they possibly first appear? And if they give you oral sex, do you then automatically have genital herpes, and when would they appear?
genital warts

Not necessarily but you run a massive risk,if oral sex then the chances are massive to nearly positive that you will get it.
As it only takes a minute crack to allow infection in.
Why would you risk this if someone has an outbreak is beyond me…♥
PS That last statement from post above is soooo incorrect about having a pee to stop std’s, is a fallacy and myth ,ignore it totally…Ahhhhh some ppl are so guillible..;-(
yup unless you drink gasoline right away you got it!
no
not necessarily, but there’s a good chance you’ll get a cold sore
It depends on a lot of things. Is the person currently having an outbreak? If so, your chances are higher. If not, you’re still able to contract herpes. It might take a long time for them to appear. Just be careful when becoming exposed.
I just asked my doctor about this a few weeks ago. YES, you can get genital herpes if some has a cold sore and goes down on you. It’s not automatic, but like someone else mentioned prior, you are upping your chances. It will only occur if the person currently has a cold sore outbreak.
People will get a herpes out break for many reasons. Some are stress, alcohol consumption, spicy foods. Best thing to do is see your doctor. A suggestion, I have heard, but don’t know how true it is, is that after “relations”, you should pee right away, the ammonia from your pee may help chances to kill things off.
It’s highly likely that you get herpes.
If you get them (oral or genital herpes), the lesions may not appear immediately. The virus can lay dormant in your body for years.
The herpes that you get in your mouth (cold sores) are different than genital herpes. They are different strains. That doesn’t mean you can’t get cold sores though. They really are not that big of a deal though, I get them on the inside of my mouth (never on the outside) and I’ve had them for as long as I can remember– even being a child. They are just more annoying than anything. I chew on them on the inside of mu mouth and they get worse. I once had one for over a month. I went to the doctor and he said it was fine and I should not chew on them
But yea, not much of a big deal. However, genital herpes- big deal. Don’t get that.
Yes there both going to appear and it will take About 1 week to show up. You will feel a tingling feeling. You can use Abreva for the cold sore on the lip and lysine pills for total control over the herpes.
No, you may not catch it, but your definitely upping your chances for catching it. You can’t catch genital herpes from getting oral sex from someone with a cold sore (they are different strains of the virus), but if I were you, I would hold off on all contact until it’s gone. Why would you risk it? I won’t even kiss my boyfriend when I have a cold sore.
well..its depends if his or her jerms come to you….if not…your safe.
You don’t AUTOMATICALLY get oral herpes if they kiss you, and you don’t AUTOMATICALLY get genital herpes if they give you oral sex. Herpes is dormant for the majority of the time and when it is dormant it cannot be transmitted. It is most infectious when they have a visible coldsore, just before they get it, and for a few days after it heals. Although herpes is highly infectious when there is a sore, even then there is a chance you won’t get herpes as it enters through minute fissures in the skin, but yes, you are massively increasing your chances of getting it. But it isn’t a dead cert.
For example, 1 in 4 women has genital herpes and 1 in 5 men. But while this means men are more likely to be having sex with a partner who has genital herpes who is currently infectious, they are less likely to catch it. So a woman’s genitals are slightly more suspectible to infection than a mans.
I caught genital herpes from receiving oral from my boyfriend, he does get coldsores but didn’t have one at the time. He kissed me on the lips the same night, but I only caught it genitally.
Contrary to the other answer, genital herpes CAN be caused by the oral herpes virus being transmitted by oral sex, you then have genital hsv1, and up to half of new cases of genital herpes in some countries like the UK are caught this way. It does cause a milder form of genital herpes than hsv1, which is the classic genital herpes virus. However it is only milder in than you get fewer outbreaks.
Symptoms appear in 2-20 days generally, but some people remain completely symptomless. My symptoms appeared in four days after exposure.
And unlike other posters with cold sores have said, not only can the virus they carry on their lips cause genital herpes and be transmitted when there is no cold sore present, but it is not true that genital herpes is physically worse than oral herpes. If you picture getting the odd cold sore down below, you’ve got the picture. No worse than that.
NO I THINK NOT B3CUZ COLD SOR3S AR3 SYPTYOMS OF H3RP3S TH3R3 NOT ACCUTALLY TH3 R3AL THING
not automatically. that’s for sure. but perhaps? i don’t know what the chances are though.. try using protection.
There’s really no such thing as cold sores that’s just the friendly version of herpes in or on the mouth. There’s Herpes Simplex I and Herpes Simplex II. Herpes Simplex II is the sexually transmitted which is located in the area below. However each one can be transfered from top to bottom or vice verse. Your chances of getting oral herpes depends on how many times in life you come in contact with someone who has it. You can be intimate with someone who has the virus but if there’s no sores than you can not get it. If that was the case we can all have it. It’s whens the blisters or present that makes you more at risk!
The doctors use a point scale to determine outbreaks and severity of the disease. The more you’re exposed the more your points goes up. If you get in between a certain range that’s when your likely to have outbreaks. Some may go years without any outbreaks which means that they haven’t came in contact recently with anyone to raise their levels. Safest thing is if you see someone with a huge cold sore and gets them often….avoid that person until the sore goes away if possible. Better yet if you don’t have to deal with them then leave them alone. It’s the risk you take. Just keep in mind that 1 out of every 5 has Herpes whether it’s above or below!!!
Your not going to give or get Herpes from cold sores. Ask a good doctor.
